First Australian Installation of Autex Etch a Huge Success
We completed the first Australian installation of Autex Etch fabric. This was part of a major $8.3 million refurbishment and extension of Toowoomba Town Hall in regional Queensland.
Working with Sims White Architects, our expert installers produced a high quality finish to the entry and auditorium of this much-loved, heritage-listed building. This enhanced the building’s function for current and future civic use. The team worked with photos of the original structure and design to ensure the former colour and form were reproduced, match the original wall surface and reinstate the authentic look.
What is Autex Etch?
Autex Etch is an innovative wall fabric combining design, colour, texture and acoustic management properties. You can choose your own custom design, cut and pattern, or you can incorporate your business branding or logo into the design.
The product is suitable to overlay directly to your chosen surface as a wallcovering. Alternatively, it can be installed together with an acoustic backing option for acoustic absorption.
On the Toowoomba project, we used 50mm Autex panelling behind the decorative Etch fabric in custom-made print. This helped improve the acoustic properties of the venue.
Decorative, functional and durable by design, Autex Etch can be used in any space where acoustic properties are important, such as schools, churches, theatres, libraries, gyms, studios, retail or office space. Not only does it enhance the acoustics and visual appeal of wall space, it can also be used as a pin board.
Expert installation is the key to success
Our highly professional installers worked in conjunction with NorthBuild on the site. Due to the height of the ceilings in the Town Hall, our installers worked on 5 metre high scaffolding to expertly create the custom finish. The ceiling installation was completed using 25mm thick, 1.2 x 2.4 m ceiling panels of Autex white overlay for a clean ceiling finish.
